NLSAT
The 3-year LLB (Hons) is a postgraduate professional degree programme that is open to graduates from all disciplines. It is a qualifying degree for admission to legal practice. Admission to the programme is on the basis of all-India National entrance test (NLSAT-LLB).
Eligibility criteria
Any person holding a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized national or international University is eligible to apply to the programme.
The candidates in the
- 1) General Category – Graduated with an aggregate of not less than 45% of total marks.
- 2) SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD Category- Graduated with an aggregate of not less than 40% of total marks.
- 3) Students in the final year of their Bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply.
International Students
Candidates can apply for the NLSAT – International Examination for “international student” category, if they fulfil the following conditions:
- hey should be a citizen of a country other than India; AND
- They should have completed a minimum of ten years of their education in a school/college/university outside India.
Exam Pattern
- Single question paper comprising two parts – Parts A and, Part B.
- Time limit - 150 minutes.
- Exam Structure
Part A
- Total marks – 75
- b) Marking scheme – Correct answer +1, Incorrect answer - 0.25, Unanswered question- 0.25
- c) Subjects – Comprehension, Current Affairs and Critical reasoning.
- d) Result - A candidate should have secured more than zero marks in Part A of the paper.
From amongst these eligible candidates, Part B of the NLSAT-LLB answer scripts will be evaluated in a ratio of 1:5 based on performance in Part A.
Part B
- 1) Subjective questions
- 2) Total marks - 75 marks.
- 3) Subjects – Legal reasoning, Analytical Ability
- 4) Result - A fresh and final rank list shall be prepared based on the cumulative performance in Parts A and B of the NLSAT-LLB.
- 5) Offers of admission shall be made according to this final rank list subject to the candidate satisfying the following conditions:
- (a) The candidate should have secured more than zero marks in both Parts A and B of the NLSAT-LLB.
- (b) The candidate’s cumulative score (sum of Part A and Part B) should be for:
- i. General and EWS categories- Above 75th percentile of the eligible candidates
- ii.SC/ST/OBC-NCL or PWD categories-Above 40th percentile of the eligible candidates.
